Professor Rune Hjelsvold has been active in media technology research since 1991, has published several papers in this field, and is a patent co-inventor. His research interests include topics such as electronic publishing, multimedia databases and applications, interactive video and applications, technology-Enhanced learning, meta-data modeling and management, web technologies and services, the semantic and the mobile web, and service innovation in the media industry.

He has seven years of experience from industrial research, affiliated
with Siemens Corporate Research, Inc., in Princeton, NJ, USA.
Professor Hjelsvold has supervised a long list of master’s students and
has been a co-supervisor for PhD students. He has been with Gjøvik
University College since 2002 and is currently a Vice Dean of the Faculty
of Computer Science and Media Technology.
